Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports

Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) is part of the Oregon School District's Multi-Level Systems of Support Model that addresses academic, social/emotional, behavioral, and mental health wellness needs of students.

Our school uses the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports approach to positively and explicitly teach children expected behaviors. The three big expectations that we have at Prairie View Elementary include:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe

These expectations are posted throughout the school. We have taught the expectations in each environment in the school day (hallway, playground, bathroom, classroom, lunchroom, etc.). The students learned how to follow the school expectations in each of those areas. If you would like more information about PBIS, the following website is a great resource: www.pbis.org.

We are excited to be a PBIS school so that we can build a greater feeling of community and family amongst the entire school. We have had positive assemblies with staff modeling how to follow the expectations as well as videos starring your very own children!
